Female Surgery - A New Phenomenon in Cosmetic Surgery

Female surgery presents itself in several different forms; everything from actual alterations to the vagina itself, to adjustments to the body parts that surround the vagina, all fall under the umbrella of female surgery. The following procedures are most common in regards to female surgery:

Vaginoplasty is female surgery that tightens of the vaginal muscles. After childbirth, an enlarged vagina is relatively common side effect. Considering that during childbirth, the vagina is stretched severely enough to prevent the vagina from going back to its initial size, vaginoplasty exists to assist in restoring the original state of a woman's vagina.

Labiaplasty is female surgery that reduces the labia minora or majora, or a woman's inner or outer vaginal lips. Women who have enlarged inner lips experience embarrassment, which ultimately affects their intimacy. They also often times experience discomfort in their clothing. Whether born with large labia minora, or whether it is a condition that developed overtime, labiaplasty is a procedure that can, as early as six weeks after surgery, alleviate issues of embarrassment, aging and discomfort for women. Similarly, women experiencing the aforementioned problems with their outer vaginal lips can also turn to labiaplasty to rectify their situation.

For women who have thickened skin over the clitoris, there is female surgery referred to as clitoral unhooding that is surgically available. Women with access skin over their clitoris endure sexual interference and in some cases, experience decreased sensitivity to the area. Although it has not been proven in every case, it has been reported that when the clitoral hood is surgically reduced in size, it is possible for the woman to enjoy greater and more intense stimulation often resulting in intense orfasms.

In addition to the more common female surgeries mentioned above, there are also surgeries that can be done to surrounding body parts that can enhance a woman's intimate experiences. The first is the reduction of the mons pubis, which is desired when a woman has excess fatty deposits in their lower abdomen. Women who suffer from this problem are often uncomfortable with how they look in their clothes, often fearing that they look like men. The second female surgery that falls into this category is called abdominoplasty. For women suffering from childbirth aftermath or significant weight gain, this procedure, also referred to as a "tummy tuck" will reduce abdomen size and tighten abdomen muscles. Unlike the other female surgeries, the symptoms mentioned above can be cured by liposuction, and not direct surgery to the vagina itself.

Whether your goal is to enhance the vagina itself or to enhance other parts of your body that will improve your femininity, female surgery exists to get you that much closer to feeling like yourself again. Surgeons who specialize in vaginal cosmetic surgery understand that of all the surgeries, female surgery is the most intimate, and it should be very surgeon's goal to ensure that you, as a candidate for such surgery, are as satisfied as you can be before, during and after your surgery takes place.

Cosmetic Surgery and Teenagers

This piece of news brought to fore the issue of cosmetic medicine and teenagers. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) disclosed that nearly 210,000 teens from 13 to 19 years of age received cosmetic plastic surgery in 2009. Despite several reports that the number of children seeking cosmetic enhancements are rising, data from the ASPS belie this assertion. According to the Plastic Surgery Statistics for 2008, there were 219,136 cosmetic procedures performed on the same age group during the said year. From the foregoing information, a slight decline in the number of teenage patients in 2009 can be observed. Despite this decrease, several people still felt outraged that the youth of today are even electing to change their appearance via cosmetic medicine.

The ASPS has noted that a teenager's motivation for seeking cosmetic surgery is most often conformity. Adolescence is a period where fitting in and belonging is important, especially in a school setting. It is when children seek approval from their peers and believe that such acceptance can be obtained, firstly, by looking "normal". However, it cannot be ignored that part of being normal is having certain genetic traits that may make the size of the nose or the shape of the ears rather different from others.

While there is no legally imposed minimum age for most plastic surgery procedures, breast augmentation being an exception where patients need to be at least 18 years old, the ASPS has provided guidelines for dealing with teenagers who may find themselves wanting to undergo cosmetic surgery.

It is recommended that parents, and physicians alike, first determine the readiness of the teen. Of foremost consideration is maturity - both physically and emotionally. It is important to tell them of all the possible consequences that undergoing cosmetic procedure may entail, whether it be for the short or long term. They should be informed of the whole process involved, be told of all the steps that will be taken and be made aware of any possible complications that might arise at any stage of the procedure. This is so that the child can understand and appreciate the limitations of and the benefits that come with cosmetic medicine. This is intended to keep the child's expectations reasonable. It is also preferred if they are the ones to broach the issue with the parents rather than the other way around.

There are also a number of factors that must be considered before parents allow their children to undergo any cosmetic procedure. Primary consideration should be given to ensuring that the physician handling the case is certified and that the clinic, where the procedure will be done, is duly accredited by the government. Cosmetic procedures, being medical procedures where some may be more invasive than others, involve altering a part of a person's body and extraordinary care must be given to these preliminary matters.

An Introduction To Cosmetic Surgery

People use cosmetic surgery as a means of achieving a particular ideal that they have in mind in terms of appearance. This could mean making something bigger to emphasize it, such as the breasts, or making something smaller to make it less noticeable, such as a pronounced or crooked nose. These are only two of many examples.

It is possible to completely change one's appearance in this way as almost every part of the body can be manipulated to look different with the advancements in today's medicine. Liposuction removes excess fat from the body, rendering the patient slimmer, whilst hair transplants can be done to combat receding hairlines or thinning hair.

Because there are so many options of what can be altered, cosmetic surgery is not limited to any one age group or type of person. Older women especially, though men are also included, may opt for a face lift in order to achieve a more youthful appearance. This involves making discreet incisions at the edges of the face, usually by the ears and hairline, and pulling the skin to tighten it, minimizing the appearance of wrinkles in the process. In some Asian countries, procedures on the eyes are becoming more popular for children.

Certain facial or bodily features that may be specific to a particular ethnic group can now be eliminated or enhanced or even attained by other ethnic groups thanks to modern medicine. For example, in recent years, operations on the buttocks have become very popular to enhance the shape, making it more pronounced.

Many of these surgeries become popular due to the increasing interest in celebrity culture and the many famous figures who undergo procedures to maintain an image of beauty and perfection. Their decisions to go under the knife often influence their fans and followers, who then opt to do the same or similar.

There are many scams however, with individuals posing as doctors, claiming to be able to perform procedures at a cheaper cost, often with dire consequences. It is not unusual for botched operations to result in serious long term complications or even death.

A lot of people fly to foreign countries to have these operations done due to the cost in their own country. It is important to always consult with a professional before deciding to undergo any physical changes, as they will be properly equipped to give correctly assess what needs to be done.
